Dog walks and “shit-uations”

Surviving Wet Dog Walks and Other Autumn shit-uations.

Autumn is beautiful, but let’s be honest it can be a bit messy. I have Bear making it fucking chaos with Wet leaves and muddy paws also the sudden downpours, and laundry that never seems to dry can make even the most patient person quiet fucked off, let alone me. But, somehow, there’s also magic in this crap. So let’s try and find it….It’s a season that forces us to slow down, adapt, and find comfort in the little things… even when the dog’s zooming around the house like a furry tornado. 🍂🐾

Paws, Mud, and Chaos

If you’re a dog owner, you know what I mean. Autumn walks are full of dread and maybe for some joy, but also full of wet, muddy paws that seem to have a personal vendetta against your sofa (thank god I chucked the beige one out.)

My dog, Bear, is a little shit in the worst but best way! He comes in soaking wet, tail wagging, eyes sparkling, and the house becomes a puddle battlefield. It’s shit, yes, but also kind of hilarious.( You just have to embrace it or else your cry and take a trip to doggy dignitas😝 )

Dressing for the Weather Without Losing Your Mind

The trick to surviving autumn walks is preparation. Layers (that make me look like a builder), waterproofs, and boots that actually keep your feet dry are lifesavers. But even with the best gear, there will always be rain sneaking in and puddles mysteriously appearing where you least expect them 🤦‍♀️ Instead of letting it frustrate you, I’ve learned to find a bit of humour in every soggy, windy walk. Some days it feels like you’re trudging through a storm just to fetch your sanity back… but that first hot drink afterward makes it worth it.(when you’ve finished crying and yelling and bear) ☕

Bringing Comfort Back Into Your Home

After the chaos of walks, laundry, and muddy paw prints, the comfort of home feels extra special. I light wax melts, put on soft pyjamas, and curl up under a blanket. Even the simple act of putting laundry back in the machine or drying wet shoes becomes part of the cozy rhythm of autumn. The season teaches us that warmth, comfort, and relaxation are best appreciated after a little challenge or a lot of wet dog mess.

Finding Humor in the Mess which I know is neigh on impossible…

The key to enjoying autumn, I’ve realized, is embracing the mess with humor. Every muddy paw, every drenched coat, every peppa pig filled fucking puddle is a reminder that life doesn’t have to be perfect to be delightful. Laughing at the chaos makes it lighter, and soon those soggy walks and endless chores become part of the story of your season. Which can also be a story that’s full of warmth, coziness, and little triumphs.

Autumn may be mostly messy, wet, and occasionally inconvenient, but it’s also the season that teaches us to slow down, enjoy comfort, and laugh at the mess along the way (I’m yet to master that fully). So grab your boots, embrace the puddles, and don’t forget to reward yourself with a warm drink and a cozy blanket afterward. 🍁

And if not remember the dog won’t die if you miss a day it might just piss you off a little extra ✨
